The Chevron Tang (Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis) is also known as the Hawaiian Bristletooth, Hawaiian Surgeonfish and Black Surgeonfish,
They have an oval shaped body with brightly colored, bold markings that progressively change design with maturity.
As juveniles, the Chevron Tangs have striking color patterns of blue and purple on an orange to red background.
Once the Chevron Tang begins to mature, the bright markings turn an olive brown color and thin lines begin to show on the sides of their bodies.
Chevron Tangs are relatively peaceful and will not usually harass other fish, but tend to be the likely source of being bullied instead.
Chevron Tangs will spend their day picking at rockwork in search for hair algae and other organisms to eat.
