The Lionchu goldfish has evolved in recent years thru crossbreeding between the Lionhead and the Ranchu goldfish. Todays modern Lionchu combine the traditional characteristics of both its Ranchu ancestiors with a deep body, broad curved back and tail placement, which has all been merged with the large head-growth of the Lionhead.
They originate from Thailand and were popularized by a group of goldfish hobbyists from Singapore.
The Lionchu can grow up to 15cm and can live 10-15 years in well maintained goldfish aquarium or pond. As with all goldfish, the Lionchu will eat all kinds of food and will appreciate some veggies and fruit pieces as a treat. The Lionchu is available in many color variations that include orange, yellow, black, silver or white and blue.
