The Scopas Tang (Zebrasoma scopas) is also known as the Brown Scopas Tang, Brown Tang, Two Tone Tang and Brush-Tail Tang. They have a disk like shaped body similar to that of the Sailfins, but with larger dorsal and anal fins. When the fins are fully extended, the total height of these fish is about the same as the length.

There can be quite a variation in color from one Scopas Tang to another, they can be almost black looking, to brownish or very yellowish. These colors gradually get darker from front to back. Their body is covered with fine horizontal pale blue lines and the tail is a solid brown color.

Their long snout enables them to reach filamentous algae in reef interstices that are out of the reach of other fish. Being voracious algae eaters, an aquarium with good algae growth will provide for their nutritional needs and this also makes them excellent candidates for a reef environment

As with all the surgeonfish and tangs. They like plenty of water movement, they are quick and agile swimmers so will need lots of swimming space along with plenty of crevices among corals and live rocks to retreat into for saftey and for sleeping at night.
