The Splendid Dottyback (Pseudochromis splendens) is also known as the splendid pseudochromis. They have a bluish-gray colored body which is speckled with white and light yellow spots. This is offset with a Bright yellow tail and a yellow highlight between the eyes.
Thankfully they are one of the more hardier of all the Dottyback species that will add life and color to any reef keepers aquarium. They can be kept in small groups if they are introduced at the same time.
Dottybacks are a valued asset to most reef keepers in the hobby as they are usually small and often brightly colored. The Splendid Dottyback is quite often found alone and occasionally in small groups along coral reefs and rocky reef slopes. They live inside reef structures, often at the back of caves and are a very territorial and aggressive about their boundaries. They enjoy darting in and out of rocky crevices and recesses of seaward facing reefs in moderate surge zones where they feed on small fish and invertebrates.
