The Yellow Eyed Kole Tang (Ctenochaetus strigosus) is known by many names including the Striped Bristletooth Tang, Kole Tang, Yellow Eye Tang, Gold Ring Bristletooth and are sometimes called Yellow Eyed Surgeonfish.
As juveniles they have a yellow-gold to tan color combined with numerous thin, horizontal, light blue stripes on their flanks, tiny light-blue spots on the head and throat. When matured, the body color darkens, ranging from blue to burgundy.
Depending on what part of the world it is from, it can have either a majority of spots or stripes highlighting the body.
They are one of the best equipped fish for assisting your cleanup crew in hair algae removal. The Yellow Eyed Kole Tang is peaceful and can be easily bullied by other tangs therefore it is recommended to have plenty of live rock for them to feed and hide from predators.
